Q: Is it possible and worthwhile to enable hardware acceleration of the video encoding if we don't have a Jetson GPU?

It is still possible to achieve hardware acceleration. However, this would require setting up a custom encoding pipeline tailored to the capabilities of your graphics card and integrating it with Formant. This process involves manually configuring the video encoding to leverage the hardware acceleration available on your specific GPU. The environment variable native to Formant is just for a Jetson.
