Users & teams

Regular users

A user is a member of your Formant organization team. An administrator can view existing users, edit existing users (including changing their status between Admin and Member), delete users, and invite new users. An invited user will receive an email invitation, to which they must respond, in order to join the Formant organization.

Add user

From the burger menu select Settings ⇒ Users ⇒ Add a new user

Enter the user’s name, email address and assign a role [Admin, Operator, User]

Remove user

To remove a user, click on the icon next to the user’s details.

Then, click on the icon and then confirm by clicking OK in the dialog menu. This is a permanent deletion and cannot be reversed.

Once a user is removed from the system, all data related to that user will be deleted. You can always add the user back as a new user, but no metadata will be saved.

Service accounts

Service accounts are used to grant access to the Formant SDKs or API only. They are useful in your apps, custom views, or to give to third parties, as they won't have full app access. You can create a service account using our webUI or fctl. Refer below to create service accounts from the web UI.

From the burger menu select Settings ⇒ Users
To add a new service user, Click on the Add Service User button.

Enter the service account name and assign a role [Admin, Operator, User]. An email address will be created automatically. Copy the credentials to a file safely. This will be the only time that these credentials are displayed.

Important

Store these credentials in a secure location. This is the only time you will be able to copy this password.

Teams

Teams are a collection of users with the same role and same scoped access. It is a convenient method to create a collection based on similar access privileges.

From the burger menu select Settings ⇒ Teams ⇒ Add a new team

Enter the Team’s name, pick a role, then assign the relevant users to the team.

All users assigned to a team will inherit the team's role and its tags.
